In my research career, I've spent quite a bit of time in Namibia, much of it at the remarkable Gobabeb Namib Research Institute. A number of my video projects have been in support of Gobabeb's educational mission. Here are two of those projects:
Paleoclimates is a series of ten animated shorts that describe various aspects of the variations of climate of the Namib desert and its impact on evolution of the remarkable flora and fauna of this fascinating desert.
Biophysical Field Methods is a high-level technical course aimed at senior-level to graduate-level students in ecology. Professional ecologists could also profit. The course outlines the physical nature of adaptation, including the meaning and measurement of temperature, humidity, and what this means for the physical environment inhabited by plants and animals. It is situated deliberately in a harsh climate: the Namib Desert. This playlist is a sampler of the videos for this course.
Biophysical Field Methods was produced in collaboration with Prof Berry Pinshow of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. The full course is available at udemy.com
